Bio: I was born and raised in Hawaii, on Maui and Oahu. I graduated from Punahou School and went to the mainland for college and graduate school, where I studied chemistry and oceanography. After being away for many years, I was finally able to move back home to Honolulu for good in 2011. I am so happy to be back! I love to do things outdoors – surfing, paddling, swimming, hiking, or just going for a picnic and soaking up the sun and fresh air. I have always felt a deep connection to the land and ocean here in Hawaii. That is why Hawaii always felt like home, no matter how long I was away, and why I always knew that I would return someday. The other big thing that kept me rooted to Hawaii is my family. My parents and brother are here, along with numerous uncles, aunties, and cousins. I have a daughter now, too, and I am glad that she will have a chance to grow up here and forge her own relationships with the land, ocean, people, and rich cultural heritage that make Hawaii the most special of places.
